For the first time in the history of the main series, Grand Theft Auto no longer rests on the shoulders of a single hero. GTA 6 is built around a duo: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Two personalities, one shared run through the sun-soaked state of Leonida. At ViceHub X, we separate the facts confirmed by Rockstar Games from the many rumors already swirling around.

The first playable duo in the saga

Rockstar Games, published by Take-Two Interactive, has officially confirmed that GTA 6 will be played through two protagonists: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. It is a clear break from the main series tradition, long centered on a single character. GTA V did offer three heroes, but Jason and Lucia are presented here as a genuine tandem, shown side by side from the very first images.

Another milestone: Lucia Caminos is the first playable female protagonist in the history of the main series. It is a bold choice, highlighted by Rockstar in the first trailer released in December 2023, and confirmed again by the second trailer that landed in 2025.

Two profiles that complement each other

The trailers hint at two distinct temperaments. Jason comes across as a grounded man, worn by life, while Lucia radiates a sharper, more determined energy. Together they embody the idea of a tight-knit couple against the odds, ready to do whatever it takes to get by.

  • Jason Duval: the calmer side of the duo, often tied to the beaches and everyday life of Leonida.
  • Lucia Caminos: a fighter of a heroine, whose introduction hints at a past marked by the justice system.

A word of caution, though: the details of their jobs, how they met, and their shared history have not been officially spelled out by Rockstar. These elements remain, for now, a matter of interpretation.

A run through the heart of Leonida

GTA 6 takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, openly inspired by Florida, with the long-awaited return of Vice City, the iconic Miami-inspired city. The game runs on Rockstar's RAGE engine and will feature its famous radio stations, including the anticipated return of V-Rock.

Against this backdrop of neon lights, marinas and swamps, Jason and Lucia appear caught in a headlong flight. Many fans see it as a modern retelling of the Bonnie and Clyde myth, but Rockstar has never used that phrase officially: it is a community comparison, not a confirmed fact.

What Rockstar has not confirmed

It pays to stay cautious. A lot of the information circulating about the duo comes from rumor or unverified leaks:

  • The exact nature of their romantic relationship across the story.
  • The supporting characters around them.
  • The precise flow of the plot and its ending.
  • Their respective pasts and their deeper motivations.

Until Rockstar shares more, these points should be treated as unconfirmed. What we do know is that GTA 6 is expected on November 19, 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, in a Standard edition ($79.99) and an Ultimate edition ($99.99).
